All In For Jobs aims to mobilize $1 billion, connect 500,000 Americans to good jobs

NEW YORK, Oct. 26, 2026
NEW YORK, Oct. 26, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Today, over 20 foundations and philanthropies launched a $1 billion initiative to connect Americans to good jobs and keep people working in the face of AI and automation. The initiative, called All In For Jobs, is rallying local and national leaders in philanthropy, business, and nonprofits to work with up to 250 communities across the country that have been hard-hit by economic change and now face new challenges and opportunities as technology reshapes work.
Launch partners have committed over $800 million to date. Over the next five years All In For Jobs will identify 250 communities whose residents have lost their jobs over recent decades, or face new job losses to AI and automation, and work with local leaders to help people connect to good jobs and keep them.
“In communities across the nation, there are too many people who need jobs, and too many jobs that need people,” said Derek Kilmer, Senior Vice President for U.S. Program and Policy at The Rockefeller Foundation. “Philanthropy has a unique role to play in helping people connect to jobs that are open right now, helping create new ones, and helping workers adapt and thrive as work evolves.”
Rather than only creating new jobs from scratch, All In For Jobs is focusing on the missing links that keep people from jobs that are already open. Too often, a job sits unfilled because one practical barrier stands in the way: childcare a worker cannot afford and local businesses cannot provide, transportation that does not reach the job, or training that never connects to the roles employers are trying to fill. Finding and fixing those barriers, community by community, is the work All In For Jobs will focus on. The specific communities will be decided in the months ahead.
“AI and automation may be transforming work, but technology alone should not decide who benefits, who is left behind, or what happens to a community,” said Tonya Allen, President of the McKnight Foundation. “The people closest to this transition must have the power, resources, and seat at the table to shape what comes next. All In For Jobs is about putting that principle into practice by investing in local workers, local leaders, and the connections that turn economic change into meaningful opportunity. The future is not finished, and communities should help write it.”
Because this challenge requires many solutions, All In For Jobs intends to bring together leaders across fields—from workforce development to early childhood education and elsewhere—to find what works. To launch the effort, over 20 foundations have committed $800 million. The coalition is actively growing. Beginning in January 2027, partners will convene regularly to identify, test, and scale solutions.
“We’ve seen the lasting harm that job displacement can cause during periods of economic transition, particularly for low income and older workers,” said Claire Casey, president of AARP Foundation. “We have an opportunity to make this transition different. We can build a more inclusive future where workers of all ages have the skills and opportunities to adapt and share in the prosperity this transformation can create.”
“We don’t have all the answers yet, but we’re inviting people to the table to help find them,” said Kilmer. “We’re looking for leaders in philanthropy, business, and nonprofits who want to work together to keep America working.”
